Polyaspartic Floor Coatings dry more quickly than Epoxy Floor Coatings, and the finish is also more durable. Our Floor Shield polyaspartic concrete coating finishes are NOT only highly scratch- resistant but also more slip-resistant and will not discolor like some Epoxy Floor Coatings.

Most floors can be walked on approximately 4-6 hours after installation. Vehicle traffic, heavy items, and full return to service may require additional curing time. Your Floor Shield of Houston installation team will provide specific instructions based on your project and conditions.

It sure won’t! Our concrete floor coverings will not yellow or discolor, because they are 100% UV stable. This is one of the many benefits of using Polyaspartic floor coatings.

We’ve perfected our 6-step application process, so most typical projects take between 5-10 hours depending on the square footage. We pride ourselves in a one-day application, and will do everything possible to stay within that time frame. Rainy weather can delay the project, but it is rare.

You can! Polyaspartic floor coatings are safe to apply in temperatures as cold as -40 degrees.

Our Polyaspartic Floor Coatings are engineered to rapidly cure, and can be dry in a matter of a few hours! However, we recommend waiting at least 5-6 hours before walking on newly applied coating and 24 hours before moving heavy objects back onto the flooring.

For most residential garage floors in Houston, Floor Shield of Houston recommends a 100% polyaspartic concrete coating system. Polyaspartic coatings provide excellent adhesion, UV stability, chemical and abrasion resistance, slip resistance, and rapid return to service. They are particularly well suited to Houston’s heat, humidity, rain, and strong sunlight.

For most Houston garages, we believe a professionally installed 100% polyaspartic system is a better choice than traditional epoxy. Polyaspartic coatings cure much faster, are UV stable, resist yellowing, provide excellent chemical and abrasion resistance, and can generally return to service much faster than epoxy.

The quality of the concrete preparation and installation is also critical to the long-term performance of any coating system.

Epoxy, polyurea and polyaspartic are different concrete coating technologies. Traditional epoxy is generally slower curing and can yellow with prolonged UV exposure. Polyurea systems cure quickly but are often used as part of a blended system with a polyaspartic topcoat. Polyaspartic coatings provide rapid curing, strong adhesion, UV stability and excellent durability.

Most residential coating projects can be completed in approximately one day. Our standard installation process includes diamond grinding and concrete preparation, a 92% solids polyaspartic base coat application, decorative flake broadcasting when selected, scraping and cleaning the surface, and application of the 92% solids polyaspartic topcoat with anti-slip.

The exact schedule depends on the condition of the concrete, project size, repairs required and environmental conditions.

In typical conditions, a Floor Shield polyaspartic floor can be walked on after approximately 4–6 hours. Your installer will provide project-specific instructions because curing time can vary depending on the coating system, temperature, humidity, and other site conditions.

The exact vehicle return time depends on the specific coating system, installation conditions, and project requirements. Typically, we recommend 48 hours after installation to allow uninterrupted curing of your coating.   Floor Shield of Houston will provide the appropriate return-to-service instructions for your garage after installation.
